It had been a beautiful week so far with temps in the eighties and we decided the night before to take a ride to a national forest about an hour and a half north to take a hike and do some photos of Jane amid the fall leaves. We left about nine the next morning and arrived at the park about ten-thirty. We liked to go to a small picnic area deep in the woods at the end of an old county road. It wasn't used much in the summer so we felt safe at this time of the season with school's back in session and being the middle of the week.
